บทคัดย่อภาษาไทย
This thesis entitled “The Use of English for Meditation Teaching” comprises three objectives: 1) to study the using of English for meditation teaching; 2) to study the problems of using English for meditation teaching; and 3) to analyze waysfor improving English mediation teaching.The study is a mixed method research between a quantitative research and qualitative research in nature. A questionnaire is used for collecting quantitative data from 50 students of Faculty of Humanities and IBSC (International Buddist Studies College) and in-depth interview is used for collecting qualitative data from 10 key informants. Stastistics including frequency, mean, percentage (%), and standard deviation (S.D) is used for analysing quantitative data and a content analysis is used for analysing qualitative data.
Findings of the study areas follows:
1. From a study of the using of English for meditation teaching it found that informationon gender of participants of table 1 is divided into 40 Buddhist monks, with have not Buddhist nun, 8 lay Buddhist males and 2 lay Buddhist females. The Buddhist monks accounting (80%) the table 2 of the majority of participants are at the age of over 35 years old. Accounting (50%). Table 3 it show that most participant are meditation course from Humanities faculty accounting for (64%). There are 25 participants having of experienced of using English for meditation teaching lower than 5 years. Most of participants have given meditation purposes, accounting for (56%). According to this table 4, most of participants have purposes of using English is meditation and most of them have graduated a Master degree.
2. In respect of a study of the problems of using English for meditation teachingit revealed thatthe result of data analysis in the use of English for meditation teaching on Meditation handbooks and teaching aids shows the statistical Mean of 2.95 and SD of 0.87. The most of meditation handbooks and teaching aids used much by participants in this statements show the overall value of 2.95. 2) The result of data analysis in the use of English for meditation teaching on face to face shows the statistical Mean of 2.67 and SD of 0.89. The most of face to face used much by participants in this statements show the overall value of 2.67. 3) The result of data analysis in the use of English for meditation teaching on interactive shows the statistical Mean of 2.80 and SD of 0.86. The most of interactiveused much by participants in this statements show the overall value of 2.80. 4) The result of data analysis in the use of English for meditation teaching on interview shows the statistical Mean of 2.73 and SD of 0.83. The most of interview used much by participants in this statement show the overall value of 2.73.
3. Regarding ananalysis of ways for improving English mediation teaching it revealed that 1) the result of data analysis of problems of using English for meditation teaching on wheather not to have training meditation course showed the statistical Mean of 3.13 and SD of 1.05, the most of meditation course trainings showed problems faced by participants in this statements with the overall value of 3.13; 2) the result of data analysis of problems of using English for meditation teaching on Pali translated into English for helping practitioner showed the statistical Mean of 2.97 and SD of 0.89, the most of meditation Pali translated into English for helping practitioner showed problems faced by participants in this statementswith the overall value of 2.97; 3) the result of data analysis of problems of using English for meditation teaching on not to feel confidently showed the statistical Mean of 3.10 and SD of 0.96, the most of meditation of not to feel confidently showedproblems faced by participants in this statements with the overall value of 3.10; 4) the result of data analysis of problems of using English for meditation teaching on to speak some vocabularies wrong showed the statistical Mean of 3.13 and SD of 1.20, the most of meditation of to speak some vocabularies wrong showed problems faced by participants in this statements with the overall value of 3.13; 5) the result of data analysis of problems of using English for meditation teaching on not to have a lot of experiences showed the statistical Mean of 2.88 and SD of 0.94, the most of meditation with no enough experiences of teaching showed problems faced by participants in this statements with the overall value of 2.88; 6) the result of data analysis of problems of using English for meditation teaching on common problems of pronunciation showed the statistical Mean of 3.03 and SD of 0.93, the most of meditation of common problems pronunciation showed problems faced by participants in this statements with the overall value of 3.03; 7) the result of data analysis of problems of using English for meditation teaching on not to have reading meditation books showed the statistical Mean of 2.97 and SD of 0.96, the most of meditation of not to have reading books of problems showed problems faced by participants in this statements with the overall value of 2.97.
