การวิจัยครั้งนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์ คือ 1) ศึกษาลักษณะของสถานศึกษาที่ส่งเสริมการเรียนรู้ตลอดชีวิต 2) เพื่อวิเคราะห์แนวทางพัฒนาสถานศึกษาเพื่อส่งเสริมการเรียนรู้ตลอดชีวิต 3) เพื่อเสนอรูปแบบการพัฒนาสถานศึกษาเพื่อส่งเสริมการเรียนรู้ตลอดชีวิตตามหลักพุทธบูรณาการ โดยวิธีการดำเนินการวิจัยแบบผสานวิธี คือ ระยะที่หนึ่ง การเก็บรวบรวมข้อมูลการเรียนรู้ตลอดชีวิต ด้วยการเก็บข้อมูลจาก นิสิต คณาจารย์ ของมหาวิทยาลัยมหาจุฬาลงกรณราชวิทยาลัย จำนวน 300 รูป/คน โดยใช้แบบสอบถาม วิเคราะห์ข้อมูลโดยใช้โปรแกรมสำเร็จรูปทางสถิติ เพื่อวิเคราะห์หาค่าสถิติ นำเสนอข้อมูลในแบบตารางควบคู่กับการบรรยายและสรุปผล ระยะที่สอง วิเคราะห์แนวทางพัฒนาสถานศึกษาเพื่อส่งเสริมการเรียนรู้ตลอดชีวิต โดยการสัมภาษณ์เชิงลึกผู้เชี่ยวชาญด้านการเรียนรู้ตลอดชีวิต จำนวน 12 รูป/คน วิเคราะห์ข้อมูลโดยใช้เทคนิคการวิเคราะห์เนื้อหาเชิงพรรณนา

           ผลการวิจัยพบว่า ลักษณะสถานศึกษาเพื่อส่งเสริมการเรียนรู้ตลอดชีวิต มีลักษณะที่เป็นไปเพื่อการส่งเสริมและพัฒนาผู้เรียนรู้ไปตลอดชีวิต เป็นสถานศึกษาที่สามารถส่งเสริมกระบวนการเรียนรู้อย่างต่อเนื่อง มุ่งเน้นการพัฒนาผู้เรียนรู้ ให้สามารถปรับตัวเข้ากับความเปลี่ยนแปลงในสังคมปัจจุบันและพัฒนาต่อเนื่อง ได้อย่างเต็มศักยภาพของผู้เรียนรู้ เป็นการศึกษาที่เกิดจากแรงจูงใจของผู้เรียนรู้ จากแหล่งเรียนรู้ที่มีอยู่ สามารถส่งเสริมและพัฒนาสังคมและมนุษย์ได้อย่างมั่นคงยั่งยืน วิเคราะห์เป็นแนวทางพัฒนาสถานศึกษาเพื่อส่งเสริมการเรียนรู้ตลอดชีวิต ดังต่อไปนี้ 1) มีการจัดการสถานที่แหล่งเรียนรู้ให้เหมาะสม 2) ผู้สอนสามารถถ่ายทอดความรู้เพื่อส่งเสริมให้มีการสร้างและแสวงหาความรู้ ที่เหมาะสมกับการเรียนรู้ของนิสิตได้หลากหลายและรอบด้าน 3) มีการนำองค์ความรู้ไปใช้ พัฒนาศักยภาพผู้เรียนรู้ได้อย่างเหมาะสมกับสังคมและตัวผู้เรียนอย่างมั่นคงและยั่งยืน 4) ผู้เรียนมีองค์ความรู้ที่เหมาะสมต่อการพัฒนาและแลกเปลี่ยนเรียนรู้กับผู้อื่นได้อย่างมีความหลากหลาย รอบด้าน 5) มีกิจกรรมที่สอดคล้องหลากหลายรอบด้าน เพื่อส่งเสริมการเรียนรู้ตลอดชีวิตของผู้เรียน สามารถพัฒนาศักยภาพผู้เรียนได้อย่างรอบด้าน พร้อมกับนำแนวทางเหล่านี้ มาบูรณาการร่วมกับหลักอิทธิบาท 4 คือ ฉันทะ วิริยะ จิตตะ วิมังสา นำมาสังเคราะห์ได้องค์ความรู้ใหม่ คือ รูปแบบการพัฒนาสถานศึกษาเพื่อส่งเสริมการเรียนรู้ตลอดชีวิตตามหลักพุทธบูรณาการ
            เรียกว่า MCUDA4B Model ดังนี้ 1) Management of learning resources มีการจัดการแหล่งเรียนรู้ 2) Creation and Acquisition Knowledge มีการสร้างและแสวงหาความรู้ 3) Utilization Knowledge is applied มีการนำความรู้ไปใช้ 4) Develop and Share knowledge มีการพัฒนาและแลกเปลี่ยนความรู้ 5) Activities in Continuous learning มีกิจกรรมในการเรียนรู้อย่างต่อเนื่อง 6) 4 Basis for Success หลักอิทธิบาท 4

            This thesis entitled ‘A Model of Educational Institution Development to Promote Lifelong Learning Through The Integrated Buddhist Principles’ has three objectives: 1) to study the aspects of educational institutions that promote the lifelong learning, 2) to analyze the guidelines the educational institution development to promote lifelong learning, and 3) to propose A Model of Educational Institution Development To Promote Lifelong Learning Through The Integrated Buddhist Principles. This is a mixed research methodology: in the first phase the data on lifelong learning were collected from three hundreds of students and teachers of Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya University through questionnaires and then the statistical program was used to analyze those data to provide the statistical values where they were presented by means of table contents and its description including the conclusion, in the second phase the guidelines the educational institution development to promote lifelong learning were analyzed through in-depth interview of twelve experts in the related area and after that the descriptive analysis was made respectively.

               In the research, it was found that the aspects of the educational institutions that promote lifelong learning consist of the manners by which the lifelong learning is provided; the learners become the centre of learning where they are easily adaptable to the current changes based on their potentiality and places of study, in some ways the motivation gained from the learners is prioritized so that the sustainability of learning necessitates. In the analysis of the guidelines the educational institution development to promote lifelong learning, the following matters are needed: 1) the suitable place for learning is provided, 2) the teachers are able to transfer certain knowledge so as to promote the appropriate construction and search for knowledge to the learners in various ways, 3) the body of knowledge gained from learning can be applied into their daily life where the learners’ potentiality is suitably and sustainably developed, 4) those know come to learn should have the suitable bodies of knowledge to the development and exchange among others in different dimensions, 5) various activities should be provided so that the lifelong learning could be promoted. In doing this, four paths of accomplishment, aspiration, energy, thoughtfulness, and investigation should be integratedly applied. As a result of that,  the new body of knowledge leading to A Model of Educational Institution Development To Promote Lifelong Learning Through
             The Integrated Buddhist Principles could be named as ‘MCUDA4B’; it can be explained that: 1) there should be the Management of learning resources, 2) there should be the Creation and Acquisition of knowledge, 3) there should be the Utilization of knowledge, 4) there should be the Development and Share knowledge, 5) there should have the Activities in continuous learning, and 6) there should have the 4 Basis for success known as four paths of accomplishment.
