บทคัดย่อภาษาไทย

       การวิจัยเรื่องนี้ มีวัตถุประสงค์ 1) เพื่อศึกษาประเพณีเดือน 12 เป็ง ในพระพุทธศาสนา 2) เพื่อการส่งเสริมประเพณีเดือน 12 เป็ง ในจังหวัดเชียงราย 3) เพื่อวิเคราะห์การส่งเสริมประเพณีเดือน 12 เป็ง ในจังหวัดเชียงราย การวิจัยครั้งนี้เป็นการวิจัย เชิงคุณภาพ เก็บรวบรวมข้อมูลจากการสัมภาษณ์ได้แก่กลุ่ม พระสงฆ์ ปราชญ์ท้องถิ่น หน่วยงานภาครัฐและภาคเอกชน ผู้นำชุมชนและประชาชนทั่วไป ผลการวิจัยพบว่า

       ประเพณีสิบสองเป็ง หรือประเพณีปล่อยผีปล่อยเปรต หรือเรียกประเพณีอุทิศหาผู้ตาย เรียกตามแต่ละพื้นที่ โดยประเพณีดังกล่าวเป็นการอุทิศส่วนบุญส่วนกุศลไปให้บรรพบุรุษของตน คือ พ่อ แม่ ปู่ ย่า ตา ยาย ลุงป้า ญาติพี่น้องที่ล่วงลับไปแล้ว ซึ่งในวันสิบสองเป็งของชาวล้านนา จะมีการตานขันข้าว เพื่ออุทิศส่วนกุศลให้บรรพบุรุษและญาติผู้ล่วงลับ เพราะเชื่อกันว่าในวันดังกล่าว พระยายมราชได้ปลดปล่อยวิญญานของผู้ตายให้กลับมาสู่โลกมนุษย์

       องค์ความรู้และคุณค่าของประเพณีเดือน 12 เป็ง และการตานเรือสะเปาคำ เรียกได้ว่าเป็นวิถีแห่งการดำเนินชีวิตของสังคมที่รับเอาอิทธิพลมาจากสิ่งแวดล้อมภายนอกที่เข้าสู่สังคม รับเอาแบบปฏิบัติที่หลากหลายเข้ามาผสมผสานในการดำเนินชีวิตโดยเฉพาะศาสนา ในประเทศไทยสะท้อนให้เห็นถึงอิทธิพลของพุทธศาสนาที่มีต่อสังคมไทยและชี้ให้เห็นว่าชาวไทยให้ความสำคัญในการบำรุงพุทธศาสนาด้วยการสร้างศิลปกรรมที่งดงาม เพื่อใช้ในพิธีกรรมทางศาสนาตั้งแต่โบราณกาล

       การถ่ายทอดองค์ความรู้ โดยผ่านกระบวนการส่งเสริมเชิงเอกสาร และกระบวนการส่งเสริมเชิงการจัดประเพณี กิจกรรม เพื่อเป็นการถ่ายทอดประชาสัมพันธ์ประเพณีเดือน 12 เป็ง และการตานเรือสะเปาคำ ให้เป็นที่รู้จักและเพื่อเป็นประโยชน์แก่อนุชนคนรุ่นหลังต่อไป

บทคัดย่อภาษาอังกฤษ

       This research has objectives to 1) study the tradition of the 12^th lunar month in Buddhism, 2) promote the tradition of the 12^th lunarmonth in Chiang Rai Province, and 3) analyze the promotion of the 12^th Iunar month in Chiang Rai Province. This is the qualitative research, collecting data from interviewing monks, local sage, governmental and non-governmental officers and general people. The research result found that;

       The tradition of the 12^th lunar month or the tradition of releasing ghost/jinn (bad spirit), or can be called as the tradition of dedication to the deceased, according to each local area. Such the tradition means to dedicate merit to their ancestors i.e., parents, grandparents, uncle, aunts and passed away siblings. The 12^th lunar month of the Lanna people will be giving tray of rice to dedicate to the passed away ancestors and siblings, as they have belief that such the day, Phraya Yommarat (god of death) would release the soul of the dead to come to the human world.

        Knowledge and values of the 12^th Lunar month Peng  tradition and the giving of the Sapao Kham (golden boat) could be called as the way of life of the society that have been influenced by the externa environment, adopting of variety of practices into daily living, especially religion. In Thailand, the reflection of the influential of Buddhism towards the Thai society, and pointed out that Thai people dedicate importance to the maintenance of Buddhism by creating beautiful arts to use in religious ceremonies since ancient times.

       Knowledge transfer through document-based promotion process, and the process to promote the tradition activities, in order to convey and publicize the 12^th lunar month Peng  tradition and giving Sapao Kham (golden boat) to be known and for the benefit of future generations.
