บทคัดย่อภาษาไทย

       วิทยานิพนธ์นี้มีวัตถุประสงค์ เพื่อศึกษา (1) ประเพณีการให้ทานตามหลักพระพุทธศาสนา (2) หลักคติธรรมที่ปรากฎในประเพณีทานข้าวจี่ข้าวหลามเดือน 4 (3) ประเพณีทานข้าวจี่ข้าวหลามเดือน 4 ที่มีคุณค่าและอิทธิพล ต่อชาวล้านนา การวิจัยครั้งนี้เป็นการวิจัยเชิงคุณภาพ (Qualitative Research) เครื่องมือที่ใช้เก็บรวบรวมข้อมูล ได้แก่รวบรวมข้อมูลจากเอกสาร (Document) และจากการสัมภาษณ์ ผลการวิจัยพบว่า

        ประเพณีการให้ทานตามหลักพระพุทธศาสนา คือ ผู้ให้ทานย่อมเป็นที่รักที่ชอบใจของชนหมู่มาก สัปบุรุษผู้สงบย่อมคบหาผู้ให้ทาน กิตติศัพท์อันงามของผู้ให้ทานย่อมขจรทั่วไป ผู้ให้ทานย่อมไม่ห่างเหินจากธรรมของคฤหัสถ์ ผู้ให้ทานเมื่อตายไปแล้วย่อมเข้าถึงสุคติโลกสวรรค์

         หลักคติธรรมที่ปรากฎในประเพณีทานข้าวจี่ข้าวหลามเดือน 4 คือ บุญกริยาวัตถุ 3 หมายถึง ที่ตั้งแห่งการทำความดี 3 ประการ ประกอบไปด้วย การทำบุญด้วยการให้ (ทานมัย) การทำบุญด้วยการรักษาศีล (สีลมัย) การทำบุญด้วยการภาวนา (ภาวนามัย) และ สังคหวัตถุ 4 หมายถึง เครื่องมือ หรือหลักธรรม 4 ประการ ที่ช่วยประสานคนหมู่มากให้อยู่ร่วมกันอย่างมีความสุข เป็นเครื่องช่วยขจัดความขัดแย้งที่เกิดขึ้นทำให้คนอยู่ร่วมกันด้วยความรัก สามารถนำไปใช้ได้ตั้งแต่ระดับครอบรัวจนถึงระดับสังคม เป็นธรรมที่ก่อให้เกิดความผาสุกในบ้านเมือง และประเทศชาติ ประกอบไปด้วย ทาน ปิยวาจา อัตถจริยา สมานัตตตา

       ประเพณีทานข้าวจี่ข้าวหลามเดือน 4 ที่มีคุณค่าและอิทธิพล ต่อชาวล้านนา พบว่า 1. ทำให้มีความสุข เบิกบานที่ได้ทำบุญด้วยน้ำพักน้ำแรงของตน 2. ทำให้มีโอกาสแสดงความกตัญญูกตเวทีต่อบรรพชนและเทพยดา 3. ทำให้มีการปฏิบัติตามจารีตประเพณี 4.เป็นแบบอย่างแก่ลูกหลานเยาวชน
5.เป็นโอกาสที่ได้สังสรรค์กับเพื่อนบ้าน 6.ทำให้เกิดความรักความผูกพันกับเพื่อนบ้าน 7. เป็นการทำนุบำรุงศาสนาอันเป็นที่เคารพสักการของตน

บทคัดย่อภาษาอังกฤษ

       This Thesis has objectives to study (1) the merits of giving alms according to Buddhist principles, (2) the morale principles that appear in the merits of giving Khao Gee, Khao Lam Duan See and (3) the merits of giving Khao Gee, Khao Lam Duan See that value and influence to Lanna people. This is the qualitative research and collecting data through the tools called document and interviewing. the result of the research found that:

        The merits of giving alms according to Buddhist principles was as follows; the giver of alms is loved by many people, peaceful men associate with alms-givers, the good reputation of the giver spreads throughout all over, the giver of alms is not far from the layman’s dharma and one who gives alms after death will attain the bliss of the heavenly world.

        The morale principles that appear in the merits of giving Khao Gee, Khao Lam Duan See were as follows: Merit-Kriyavattha 3 means the location of 3 good deeds, consisting of making merit through giving (danamai), making merit by keeping the precepts (silamai), making merit through prayer (bhavanamai) and Sangahavattha 4 means tools or 4 principles that help unite many people to live together happily. It is a tool to help eliminate conflicts that arise and bring people together with love. It can be applied from the family level to the social level.  It is fairness that contributes to the well-being of the country and the nation consisting of Dana, Piyavaca, Atthachariya and Samanatta.

        The merits of giving Khao Gee, Khao Lam Duan See that value and influence to Lanna people was found that; 1. make happy rejoicing in making merit with their own labour, 2. as an opportunity to show gratitude to ancestors and gods, 3. practicing according to tradition, 4. as a role model for children and young people, 5. as an opportunity to socialize with neighbors, 6. as a sign of love and bond with neighbors and 7. as the preservation of the religion that is respected by oneself.
