บทคัดย่อภาษาไทย

The dissertation has three objectives: (1) to examine Mindfulness Born Peace and Happiness; (2) to examine Manifestation-Only Psychology (Yogācāra Vijñaptimātratā-vāda) in Western Psychotherapy; and (3) to present Mindfulness Born Peace and Happiness (MBPH) as an Integrative methodology between Buddhism and Psychotherapy for well-being, defined as a healthy state of body, mind, and social relationship. The finding shows that the sixteen exercises of mindful breathing and the four establishments of mindfulness can be used as means to calm body and mind, to heal and to transform by looking deeply into feelings, mental formations, perceptions, and true nature of phenomena. It is shown that the triune brain model can be used to explain the working of the eight-consciousnesses model of Manifestation-Only Psychology. The finding points out holistic aspect of Manifestation-Only Psychology, which integrates the five perspectives of Western psychology. It states the applications of Mahayana’s three characteristics of phenomena of the impermanence, selflessness, and non-duality as right cognition, helping to transform delusion to right view. It shows how the Five Precepts revised and renamed as the Five Mindfulness Trainings by Thich Nhat Hanh, can be used as concrete ways for bringing psychotherapy into daily activities as a way of life. Finally, the research presents the 8-session MBPH program, which includes daily mindfulness activities for calming and nourishing body and mind, essential steps for guarding the six senses in order not to do unwholesome activities, methods to look deeply into non-duality nature of phenomena, processes to reconcile with oneself and with others, practices to rely on oneself to overcome difficulties, procedures for looking into deep wounds and transform them, and ways to live happily in the present moment.
