This study is documentary research in qualitative research. The findings show that: Firstly, eight versions of the Dhammacakkappavattana sutta were translated from Sanskrit into Chinese in ancient China, the earliest version by An Shigao in the Eastern Han Dynasty and the latest version by Yi Jing in the mid-Tang Dynasty, which is an important period in the history of Buddhism from its introduction to China to its development; Secondly, eight versions were translated from Chinese into English. Due to the long period of time since they were translated into Chinese, some ancient Chinese expressions are obscure, and gaining techniques have been appropriately employed in the translation process; Thirdly, the content of the eight versions together can be divided into twelve parts. The main similarities are that all versions contain the five core content: the Buddha proclaims the Four Noble Truths, the three phases of the twelve aspects, the brave declaration with Buddha, Koṇḍañña thus obtains the purity of the Dharma eye and the deva's proclamation. The main differences are that three versions add both the Brahmma persuaded to speak the Dharma and Buddha met the Titthiya. Four versions add who the Buddha thought about giving the Dharma talk, Buddha had just met the five bhikkhus and the Middle Way. Parts of the Dharma contents are carefully explained and illustrated from multiple perspectives to find their role and meaning in the Buddhist practice system and to more clearly illustrate the original meaning of the Dhammacakkappavattana sutta.
