               การวิจัยนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์ของการวิจัยคือ 1. เพื่อศึกษาหลักอิทธิบาท 4 ที่ปรากฏในคัมภีร์ทางพระพุทธศาสนา 2. เพื่อศึกษาสภาพปัจจุบันการการปฏิบัติหน้าที่ของบุคลากรองค์การบริหารส่วนตำบลทับกุง อำเภอหนองแสง จังหวัดอุดรธานี และ 3. เพื่อประยุกต์ใช้หลักอิทธิบาท 4 ในการปฏิบัติหน้าที่ของบุคลากรองค์การบริหารส่วนตำบลทับกุง อำเภอหนองแสง จังหวัดอุดรธานี เป็นการวิจัยเชิงคุณภาพภาคสนาม ผลการวิจัยพบว่า

               อิทธิบาท 4 มีองค์ประกอบ คือ ฉันทะ สร้างความพอใจในกุศล คือประสงค์จะทำยิ่งขึ้น วิริยะ การปรารถนา ความเพียรทางใจ สัมมาวาจา จิตตะ ความเพียรที่มุ่งมั่น ไม่ทอดทิ้งภาระ และวิมังสา ปัญญากิริยาที่รู้ชัด ความไม่หลง คุณค่าของอิทธิบาท 4 เป็นหลักธรรมแห่งความสำเร็จแก่ผู้นำไปปฏิบัติที่ทันสมัยอยู่เสมอ นอกจากจะเป็นคุณธรรม นำไปสู่ความสำเร็จในการงานแล้ว ยังเป็นอายุวัฒนธรรม คือความเป็นเหตุให้คนมีอายุยืนยาวด้วย นอกจากนั้น อิทธิบาท 4 ยังมีสาระที่เกื้อหนุนการปฏิบัติ เมื่อเกิดฉันทะมีใจรักแล้วก็ให้พากเพียร เมื่อพากเพียรแล้วก็เอาใจใส่เสมอ และเปิดช่องให้ปัญญาพิจารณาไตร่ตรองอย่างมีกระบวนการในการปฏิบัติหน้าที่ของบุคลากรอย่างมีประสิทธิภาพ

               สภาพปัจจุบันการการปฏิบัติหน้าที่ของบุคลากรองค์การบริหารส่วนตำบลทับกุง อำเภอหนองแสง จังหวัดอุดรธานี มีการมอบหมายงานเกี่ยวกับการจัดทำแผนพัฒนาท้องถิ่น บุคลากรมอบหมายงานในการปฏิบัติหน้าที่ให้มีความตั้งใจในการปฏิบัติหน้าที่ได้รับผิดชอบ ประสานงานตามนโยบายและระเบียบของหน่วยงาน จัดทำนโยบายให้เป็นไปในทิศทางที่ดีสามารถทำได้ตามแผนที่ผู้บริหารได้ตั้งไว้อย่างมีประสิทธิผล เกิดความโปร่งใสเพื่อความเป็นอยู่ของประชาชนให้เป็นไปตามระเบียบของหน่วยงานอย่างครบวงจอย่างตรงตามนโยบายของหน่วยงาน สร้างการปฏิบัติหน้าที่ของเจ้าหน้าที่แบบมีส่วนร่วมในหน่วยงานแต่ละฝ่ายทั้งประชาชนและเจ้าหน้าที่ มีการทำงานร่วมกันเอื้อเฟื้อต่อกันเพื่อประโยชน์ส่วนรวม มีการปลูกฝังความรับผิดชอบในการปฏิบัติหน้าที่ในด้านต่างๆ ส่งเสริมในการปฏิบัติหน้าที่แบบมีความรับผิดชอบของบุคลากรในการปฏิบัติหน้าที่อย่างมีประสิทธิภาพอย่างจริงจังของแต่ละสำนักและฝ่ายต่างๆ อย่างมีประสิทธิผลในการปฏิบัติหน้าที่ของบุคลากรให้ดีที่สุด เพื่อความก้าวหน้าและทันต่อความต้องการของประชาชนในพื้นที่

               การประยุกต์ใช้หลักอิทธิบาท 4 ในการปฏิบัติหน้าที่ของบุคลากรองค์การบริหารส่วนตำบลทับกุง อำเภอหนองแสง จังหวัดอุดรธานี ส่งเสริมให้เจ้าหน้าที่มีความรักใคร่สมัครสมานกันในการปฏิบัติหน้าที่ร่วมกันในหน่วยงาน มีการจัดการในการปฏิบัติหน้าที่เพื่อสร้างความรักในงานที่ได้รับมอบหมาย สร้างความพอใจ มีความเอาใจใส่ สร้างความพอใจในการปฏิบัติหน้าที่ให้กับบุคลากรเพื่อให้เกิดประโยชน์ต่องานที่รับผิดชอบ ปลูกฝังความเพียรพยายามในการปฏิบัติหน้าที่ให้กับบุคลากรอยู่เสมอ ขยันไม่ย่อท้อกับอุปสรรคในการปฏิบัติหน้าที่ในงานที่ได้รับมอบหมาย มีความอดทน มีความมุ่งมั่นจดจ่อในการปฏิบัติหน้าที่อย่างรอบด้าน มีความมุ่งมั่นตั้งใจเพื่อให้เกิดความสำเร็จตามวัตถุประสงค์ พิจารณา ไตร่ตรองหาเหตุผล วิเคราะห์หาเหตุผล นำมาไตร่ตรอง พิจารณาความผิดพลาดแล้วปรับปรุงในการปฏิบัติหน้าที่ วิเคราะห์ ไตร่ตรองพิจารณาหลักการทำงานที่ได้รับมอบหมายอย่างเข้มงวดและพิจารณาในหน้าที่อย่างระมัดระวังในยามที่เกิดปัญหาอย่างรอบครอบ ใช้หลักเหตุผล คิด แก้ไข ปรับปรุงอยู่เสมอ ศึกษาปัญหา วิเคราะห์ ในการปฏิบัติหน้าที่ต่างๆ และใช้สติในการทำงานพร้อมทั้งความรอบครอบพิจารณาสิ่งนั้นให้ดีมากที่สุดตามหลักอิทธิบาท 4
