การวิจัยครั้งนี้ มีวัตถุประสงค์การวิจัย 3 ประการ คือ 1.เพื่อศึกษาหลักมงคลสูตร ในพระพุทธศาสนา 2.เพื่อศึกษาการพยากรณ์เลขศาสตร์ของนักพยากรณ์ในจังหวัดเชียงใหม่ และ 3.เพื่อวิเคราะห์การบูรณาการหลักมงคลสูตรกับการพยากรณ์เลขศาสตร์ของนักพยากรณ์ในจังหวัดเชียงใหม่ การวิจัยครั้งนี้ เป็นการวิจัยเชิงคุณภาพ (Qualitative Research) โดยใช้การวิจัยเชิงเอกสาร (Documentary Research) ประกอบการสัมภาษณ์เชิงลึก (in-depth interview)

ผลการวิจัยพบว่า มงคลสูตร แปลว่า เหตุแห่งความสุขและความเจริญก้าวหน้าของชีวิต เป็นพระสูตรขนาดสั้น อยู่ในหมวดขุททกนิกาย ขุททกปาฐะ เกิดขึ้นด้วยอำนาจคำถามของเทวดาว่า  คุณธรรมอันใดที่ทำให้ชีวิตประสบความเจริญหรือมีมงคลชีวิต พระพุทธเจ้าได้ตรัสอธิบายลักษณะและคุณสมบัติต่างๆ ที่เป็นมงคลแก่ชีวิต 38 ประการ เรียกว่า “มงคลสูตร” หรือมงคล 38 เริ่มตั้งแต่การไม่คบคนพาลไปจนถึงจิตเกษม การพยากรณ์เลขศาสตร์ของนักพยากรณ์ในจังหวัดเชียงใหม่ มีการวิธีการพยากรณ์ 3 ขั้นตอน คือ ภาคคำนวณ โดยใช้เลขศาสตร์หลากหลายรูปแบบ ได้แก่ โหราศาสตร์ ทักษาปกรณ์ มหาภูติประกอบการจับยามอัฏฐกาล เลข 7 ตัว ฐาน 12 และเลขศาสตร์สากล ภาคพยากรณ์ เป็นการพยากรณ์ตามศาสตร์ที่เลือกใช้ และภาคพิธีกรรม เป็นการให้คำแนะนำปรึกษาในการแก้ไขปัญหาชีวิตและการเสริมดวงด้วยเลขมงคล

วิเคราะห์การบูรณาหลักมงคลสูตรกับการพยากรณ์เลขศาสตร์ ใน 2 ลักษณะ คือ การแก้ไขปัญหาชีวิตและการเสริมดวงด้วยเลขมงคล นักพยากรณ์ส่วนมาก มีการใช้หลักธรรม

ในมงคลสูตรเป็นแนวทางการให้คำปรึกษา แม้ว่าบางคนไม่เคยศึกษามาก่อน แต่ก็สามารถให้คำแนะนำที่สอดคล้องกับหลักมงคลสูตรได้ เพราะเขามีแนวคิดทางพุทธศาสนาผ่านทางขนบธรรมเนียม ประเพณีและวัฒนธรรม เป็นความรู้ที่ฝังลึกในตัวคน (Tacit Knowledge หรือ TK) บางคนเป็นผู้มีความรู้โดยชัดแจ้ง (EXtactic Knowledge) สามารถนำความรู้ไปใช้ประโยชน์ในการให้คำแนะนำปรึกษาได้อย่างมั่นใจ ส่วนนักพยากรณ์ที่ยังไม่เคยใช้หลักมงคลสูตรมาก่อน ก็จะได้นำไปใช้ให้ถูกต้อง เสริมสร้างความมั่นใจให้แก่ตนยิ่งขึ้น และเกิดประโยชน์ต่อผู้มาขอรับบริการ สามารถนำไปเป็นแนวทางในการดำเนินชีวิตได้อย่างมั่นใจ

บทคัดย่อภาษาอังกฤษ

This research aims to achieve three objectives: to study the Mangala Sutta in Buddhism, to examine the numerological forecasting practices of fortune-tellers in Chiang Mai province, and to integrate the Mangala Sutta with the numerological forecasting practices of fortune-tellers in Chiang Mai. This qualitative research utilizes documentary research in conjunction with in-depth interviews.

The research findings reveal that the Mangala Sutta, meaning the causes of happiness and prosperity in life, is a short sutta found in the Khuddaka Nikaya, Khuddakapatha. It arose from a deva's question about the virtues that lead to a prosperous or auspicious life. The Buddha explained 38 characteristics and qualities that are auspicious for life, known as the "Mangala Sutta" or the 38 blessings, starting from "not associating with fools" to "being steadfast." Fortune-tellers in Chiang Mai province employ a three-step forecasting process: calculation, prediction, and ritual. The calculation phase involves various forms of numerology, including astrology, Thaksapakorn, Maha Phuti, Atthakal timing, the number 7, base 12, and international numerology. The prediction phase involves forecasting based on the chosen discipline, and the ritual phase involves providing advice on resolving life problems and enhancing luck with auspicious numbers.

The analysis of the integration of the Mangala Sutta with numerological forecasting focuses on two aspects: resolving life problems and enhancing luck with auspicious numbers. Most fortune-tellers utilize the principles of the Mangala Sutta as a guideline for their consultations. Even those who have not formally studied it can provide advice aligned with the Mangala Sutta due to their understanding of Buddhist concepts through customs, traditions, and culture, which are deeply ingrained in them as tacit knowledge. Some fortune-tellers possess explicit knowledge, enabling them to confidently apply this knowledge in their consultations. For those who have not previously used the Mangala Sutta, this integration can be implemented accurately, enhancing their confidence and benefiting their clients by providing guidance for a confident life path.
