บทคัดย่อภาษาไทย

              การศึกษาครั้งนี้ มีวัตถุประสงค์ 1) เพื่อศึกษาความเชื่อเรื่องกรรมในพระพุทธศาสนา   เถรวาท และ 2) เพื่อศึกษาความเชื่อเรื่องกรรมในพระพุทธศาสนาเถรวาทที่มีผลต่อวิถีชีวิตของประชาชนตำบลเมืองไพร อำเภอเสลภูมิ จังหวัดร้อยเอ็ด

              รูปแบบวิธีวิจัยเป็นรูปแบบเป็นการวิจัยเชิงคุณภาพ (Qualitative Research) ผู้วิจัยทำการศึกษาค้นคว้าและรวบรวมข้อมูลจากเอกสารที่เกี่ยวข้อง เพื่อนำมากำหนดเป็นคำถามในการวิจัย พื้นที่วิจัย ได้แก่ ตำบลเมืองไพร อำเภอเสลภูมิ จังหวัดร้อยเอ็ด กลุ่มเป้าหมายในการเก็บข้อมูล ได้แก่ กลุ่มพระสงฆ์ กลุ่มผู้นำชุมชน กลุ่มปราชญ์ชาวบ้าน และกลุ่มนักเรียนนักศึกษา โดยใช้วิธีการสัมภาษณ์แล้ว นำมาวิเคราะห์ข้อมูลโดยวิธีอุปนัยแล้ว นำเสนอข้อมูลโดยวิธีการพรรณนา

              ผลการวิจัยพบว่า ประชาชน ตำบลเมืองไพร อำเภอเสลภูมิ จังหวัดร้อยเอ็ด มีความเชื่อตามบรรพบุรุษที่สืบทอดกันมาเกี่ยวกับกรรมดี กรรมชั่ว หรือการทำดีได้ดี ทำชั่วได้ชั่ว สัตว์ทั้งหลายมีกรรมเป็นของตนเอง กรรมใหม่ เนื่องจากกรรมดังกล่าวนั้น สามารถให้ผลทั้งดีและชั่ว ด้วยว่าทุกคนเกิดมาล้วนแต่มีกรรมเป็นของตนเองติดมาแต่ภพชาติที่แล้ว และมีกรรมใหม่ที่ทุกคนจะต้องทำในชาตินี้ซึ่งจะติดตามไปในชาติหน้า และประชาชนตำบลเมืองไพร อำเภอเสลภูมิ จังหวัดร้อยเอ็ด ได้มีความเชื่อเรื่องกรรมผ่านบุญประเพณีบุญแจกข้าว อันเป็นการทำบุญอุทิศส่วนบุญส่วนกุศลให้แก่บรรพบุรุษตลอดถึงญาติพี่น้องผู้ล่วงลับไปแล้ว เพราะหากทำบุญประเพณีนี้แล้ว จะก่อให้เกิดความร่มเย็นเป็นสุขแก่ผู้ที่มีชีวิตอยู่ และผู้ที่จากไปก็จะได้เสวยสุขในสุคติสัมปรายภพนอกจากนี้ยังเป็นการแสดงถึงความกตัญญูกตเวที ความสามัคคี อปจายนธรรม และสาราณียธรรม ตลอดถึงประชาชนตำบลเมืองไพร อำเภอเสลภูมิ จังหวัดร้อยเอ็ด ยังมีความเชื่อเรื่องกรรมในพระพุทธศาสนาเถรวาทว่า มีผลต่อวิถีชีวิตด้านจิตใจ ด้านความเป็นอยู่ ด้านสังคม ด้านการปกครอง ด้านหน้าที่การงาน และด้านการศึกษา เพราะถือว่ากรรมก็คือการกระทำของแต่ละบุคคล ไม่ว่ากรรมนั้นจะดีหรือชั่ว ผู้ทำกรรมย่อมได้ผลของกรรมนั้นอย่างแน่นอน  

บทคัดย่อภาษาอังกฤษ

              The thesis entitled “A Study of the Dynamics of Beliefs in Kamma in Theravada Buddhism to the Way of People's Life in Mueang Prai Subdistrict, Selaphum District, Roi Et Province” consists of two objectives: 1) to study the beliefs in Kamma in Theravada Buddhism; and 2) to study the beliefs in Kamma in Theravada Buddhism to the way of People’s life in Mueang Prai subdistrict, Selaphum district, Roi Et province. This is qualitative research by which the researcher studies and collected data from relevant documents in order to determine the research question. The research area is Mueang Prai subdistrict, Selaphum district, Roi Et province. The target group for data collection consists of monks, community leaders, local scholars, workers and students. The field data collection methodology employs in-depth interviews with important content, namely beliefs in Kamma in Theravada Buddhism and beliefs in Kamma in Theravada Buddhism to the way of people’s life in Mueang Prai subdistrict, Selaphum district, Roi Et province. The data are analyzed by the inductive method and presented by the descriptive method.

              From the study, it is found that the people of Muang Prai sub-district have the belief like their ancestors on wholesome and unwholesome action (Kusalakamma and Akusalakamma) that all sentient beings have their own Kamma and each Kamma gives both good and bad results because everyone is born with their own Kamma from their previous life as well as the new Kamma that they will do in this present life. The people of Muang Prai sub-district, Selaphum district, Roi Et province have the belief about Kamma through Boon Jaekkhao Tradition which is the merit-making ceremony in dedication to the ancestors and relatives who have already passed away. This ceremony will cause peace and tranquility to those who live and those who have already passed away will also get happiness in the future life (Samparāya). Moreover, the ceremony is also an expression of gratitude, unity, humility (Apacāyana-dhamma) and reconciliation (Sārāṇīyadhamma). The people of Muang Prai sub-district, Selaphum district, Roi Et province also believe that Kamma in Theravada Buddhism affects the way of life in the following aspects: mind, livelihood, society, governance, career, and education. This is because Kamma is the action of each person. Whether it is the good or bad Kamma, those who do good, receive good; those who do bad, receive bad.
