บทคัดย่อภาษาไทย

               การศึกษาวิจัยเรื่อง “ศึกษาความเชื่อและอิทธิพลของความเชื่อที่มีต่อพระธาตุหริภุญชัย          ของชาวพุทธล้านนา” มีวัตถุประสงค์ 1) เพื่อศึกษาความเชื่อและอิทธิพลของความเชื่อในพระพุทธศาสนา 2) เพื่อศึกษาประวัติของพระธาตุหริภุญชัย 3) เพื่อวิเคราะห์ความเชื่อและอิทธิพลของความเชื่อที่มีต่อพระธาตุหริภุญชัยของชาวพุทธล้านนา เป็นการวิจัยเชิงคุณภาพ (Qualitative research) ศึกษาจากเอกสารชั้นปฐมภูมิ ชั้นทุติยภูมิ และการสัมภาษณ์เชิงลึก (In-depth Interview) จากกลุ่มผู้ที่ให้ข้อมูลสำคัญ (Key informants) จำนวน 20 รูป/คน                                                                                                              ผลการวิจัยพบว่า                                                                                                                                                      ความเชื่อ หมายถึง การยอมรับนับถือต่อสิ่งใดสิ่งหนึ่งที่เกิดจากจิตสํานึกของมนุษย์ ความเชื่อในทางพระพุทธศาสนา มี 4 ประเภท ได้แก่ 1) กัมมสัทธา เชื่อเรื่องกฎแห่งกรรมว่ามีอยู่จริง 2) วิปากสัทธา เชื่อว่ากรรมที่ทำแล้วย่อมมีผลตามมา 3) กัมมัสสกตาสัทธา เชื่อว่าสัตว์มีกรรมเป็นของของตน 4) ตถาคตโพธิสัทธา เชื่อในการตรัสรู้ของพระพุทธเจ้า                                                                                               ประวัติของพระธาตุหริภุญชัย พบว่า พระเกศธาตุพบในสมัยของพระเจ้าอาทิตยราช กษัตริย์ผู้ครองนครหริภุญชัย สถานที่พบพระบรมสารีริกธาตุเคยเป็นพระราชฐานของพระองค์ ภายหลังพระราชทานอุทิศถวายให้เป็นวัดพระธาตุหริภุญชัยเพื่อเป็นพุทธบูชา ประดิษฐานพระเกศธาตุของพระพุทธเจ้า และพระธาตุอีกเต็มหนึ่งบาตร                                                                                                              วิเคราะห์ความเชื่อและอิทธิพลของความเชื่อที่มีต่อพระธาตุหริภุญชัยของชาวพุทธล้านนาพบว่า ด้านวิถีชีวิต ส่งผลต่อแนวทางการดำเนินชีวิตเป็นผู้มีความเป็นอยู่อย่างสงบเรียบง่าย มีความสันโดษ มีเหตุมีผล เป็นผู้อ่อนน้อมถ่อมตน ด้านสังคม ส่งผลต่อการกล่อมเกลาพฤติกรรมทางด้านร่างกายและจิตใจ เป็นผู้เคารพต่อผู้อาวุโส อยู่ร่วมกันอย่างสงบสุข ด้านประเพณี วัฒนธรรม เกิดประเพณีการบูชาพระธาตุ การสรงน้ำพระธาตุ การถวายสลาก การถวายโคม ด้านเศรษฐกิจ หลักธรรมในทางพระพุทธศาสนาที่สะท้อนผ่านความเชื่อและความศรัทธาในพระธาตุหริภุญชัย สอนให้ชาวพุทธล้านนามีความขยัน ซื่อสัตย์ มีวินัย เสียสละ รับผิดชอบต่อหน้าที่ รู้จักพึ่งพาตนเอง รู้จักประหยัดและอดออม ไม่โลภ ความเชื่อและอิทธิพลของความเชื่อที่มีต่อพระธาตุหริภุญชัยจึงช่วยกล่อมเกลาชาวพุทธล้านนาให้ดำเนินชีวิตตามหลักคำสอนในทางพระพุทธศาสนาที่สอดคล้องกับวิถีชีวิตแบบล้านนา ความเชื่อเป็นจุดเริ่มต้นสำหรับการดำเนินไปสู่เป้าหมายสูงสุดของชีวิต นำไปสู่การปฏิบัติเพื่อให้เกิดปัญญา ในทางพระพุทธศาสนาความเชื่อที่มีเหตุผลต้องเป็นความเชื่อที่ประกอบด้วยปัญญา

บทคัดย่อภาษาอังกฤษ

             The Thesis entitled “A Study of Beliefs and Their Influences towards Phra That Hariphunchai of Lanna Buddhists” consisted of three objectives: 1) to study the beliefs and their influences in Buddhism; 2) to study the history of Phra That Hariphunchai; and 3) to analyze the beliefs and their influences towards Phra That Hariphunchai of Lanna Buddhists. This was qualitative research with the data collection employed from primary and secondary sources as well as an in-depth interview with 20 key informants.                                     The results of the study found as follows:                                                                                Belief refers to acceptance and respect in something arising from the human’s consciousness. There are four types of belief in Buddhism as follows: 1) Belief in Kamma that it exists (Kamma-saddhā); 2) Belief in the consequences of action (Vipāka-saddhā); 3) Belief in the individual ownership of action (Kammassakatā-saddhā); and 4) Confidence in the Enlightenment of the Buddha (Tathāgatabodhi-saddhā).                                                                  From the study of the history of Phra That Hariphunchai, it revealed that the Hair Relics of the Buddha was found in the reign of King Athittayarat, Ruler of Phra That Hariphunchai. The place where the Buddha’s Relics were found used to be his royal palace, which later on was donated as Phra That Hariphunchai temple for the enshrinement of the Hair Relics and one full alms-bowl of other Relics.                                                                                                                  From the analysis on the beliefs and their influences towards Phra That Hariphunchai of Lanna Buddhists, it was found the effects in the following aspects: Way of life by which those who are affected can have a simple and peaceful life with contentment, rationality, and humility; Social aspect by affecting the behavioral socialization in both physical and mental aspects to respect the elders and live together peacefully; Traditional and cultural aspect by an occurrence of a tradition of worshiping the Relics, bathing the Relics, Salākābhatta (food to be distributed by tickets), offering lanterns; and Economic aspect by which the Buddhist doctrines reflected through the belief and faith in Phra That Hariphunchai has taught Lanna Buddhists to be diligent, honest, disciplined, sacrificing, responsible for duties, self-reliant, economical and saving, and not greedy. The beliefs and their influences towards Phra That Hariphunchai, therefore, help to train Lanna Buddhists to live according to the Buddhist doctrines that are consistent with the Lanna lifestyle. Belief is the starting point for achieving the ultimate goal of life, which leads to wisdom. In Buddhism, a reasonable belief must comprise of wisdom.
