บทคัดย่อภาษาไทย

                ในการศึกษาวิจัยเรื่อง ศึกษาอิทธิพลของปัญญาสชาดกที่มีต่อสังคมไทย มีวัตถุประสงค์   3 ประการ คือ 1) เพื่อศึกษาความเป็นมาและความสำคัญของปัญญาสชาดก 2) เพื่อศึกษาความเชื่อในปัญญาสชาดก และ 3) เพื่อศึกษาอิทธิพลของปัญญาสชาดกในสังคมไทย

               ผลการวิจัย พบว่า

               1. ความเป็นมาและความสำคัญของปัญญาสชาดก เป็นผลงานวรรณกรรมเก่าแก่ทางพระพุทธศาสนา โดยผ่านการรจนาของภิกษุสงฆ์เมืองเชียงใหม่ เมื่อประมาณ พ.ศ. 2000 – 2200 แนวการเขียน นำนิทานจากแหล่งต่างๆ มาอธิบายแต่งขึ้นเป็น “ชาดก” โดยนำนิทานจากอรรถกถาชาดกและนิทานพื้นบ้านมาดัดแปลงให้เป็นเรื่องราวตามชื่อ เรียบเรียงเป็นภาษาบาลี มีทั้งคำประพันธ์ที่เป็นร้อยแก้วและบทคาถาหรือบทร้อยกรอง แพร่กระจายไปในดินแดนประเทศใกล้เคียง ได้แก่ เขมร พม่า ลาว ชาดกที่รู้จักกันดี ได้แก่ สุธนชาดก สุวรรณสังขชาดก เป็นต้น

               2. ความเชื่อในปัญญาสชาดก มีความเชื่อเรื่องผลกรรม บาป บุญ นรก สวรรค์และชาติภพ เชื่อว่าผลกรรมที่ผ่านมานั้นมนุษย์ไม่สามารถฝืนหรือหลีกเลี่ยงได้ หรือเปลี่ยนแปลงได้ ต้องเสวยผลกรรมนั้นต่อไป และเชื่อว่าพลังแห่งความเพียรพยายามของตนเท่านั้นที่จะช่วยให้ตนเองไปสู่สวรรค์หรือพ้นจากวัฎฎสงสาร ซึ่งความเชื่อนี้ทำให้มนุษย์ในปัญญาสชาดกส่วนใหญ่มีความคิดสะสมกรรมดีเพื่อที่จะให้กรรมดีนั้นส่งผลให้ตนประสบกับความสุขในชาติหน้า นอกจากนี้ ยังเชื่อในพลังลี้ลับเหนือธรรมชาติ เพื่อให้สิ่งที่อยู่เหนือธรรมชาตินั้นบันดาลให้เกิดสิ่งดีๆ ให้แก่ตนหากเป็นกรณีร้าย             ก็จะหาทางกำจัด ขับไล่ไปให้พ้นและป้องกันไม่ให้มารบกวนหรือทำอันตราย

               3. อิทธิพลของปัญญาสชาดกที่มีต่อสังคมไทย ชี้ให้เห็นว่าพระพุทธศาสนามีบทบาทอย่างสำคัญนอกจากศาสนธรรม ศาสนสถาน และศาสนวัตถุ หลักฐานของความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างพระพุทธศาสนากับสังคมไทย ได้ถ่ายทอดมาทางวรรณกรรม โดยจะเห็นได้จากการเผยแผ่หลักธรรมทางพระพุทธศาสนาต่อการปฏิบัติตามหลักคำสอนของพระพุทธศาสนาของพุทธศาสนิกชน โดยผ่านการนำเสนอในรูปแบบเล่าเรื่องหรือชาดกให้เกิดความเข้าใจและสามารถนำไปใช้ในการดำเนินชีวิตได้ เรื่องเน้นการสร้างบุญ พิธีกรรม ประเพณีต่างๆ เช่น การสร้างพระไตรปิฎก การสร้างพระพุทธรูป  การซ่อมแซมเสนาสนะที่ชำรุด การสรงน้ำพระ และประเพณีการทอดกฐิน โดยเชื่อว่าผลบุญที่ทำจะทำให้ชีวิตดีขึ้นทั้งในแต่ปัจจุบัน และชาติหน้าที่มีความสุขสมบูรณ์ด้วยปัจจัยต่างๆ

บทคัดย่อภาษาอังกฤษ

The purposes of this research, “The study of an influence of Paññāsajātaka to Thai society” are (1) to study the background and importance of Paññāsajātaka     (2) to study the belief in Paññāsajātaka, and (3) to study an influence of Paññāsajātaka in Thai society.

       The results of this study found that:

       1. Background and importance of Paññāsajātaka was an ancient literary Buddhist work which was compesed by Chiangmai monk about 2000-2200 B.E. The composition, based on tales from various sources in which explained to “Jataka”, composed by bringing tales from Jataka and folk tales to convert into stories according to the name by written in Pali, there are prose and spell or poetry which spread to nearby countries, such as Cambodia, Myanmar, Laos etc. The well-known Jataka are Suthon Jataka and Sawannasung Jataka.

       2. The belief in Paññāsajātaka had belief in karma, sins, merit, hell, heaven and previous life. Paññāsajātaka believed that human can’t infringe, avoid or change it, they must compensate that retribution, Paññāsajātaka also believed that power of an attempt only helps themselves to go to heaven or free from round of existences, so this belief made most people in Paññāsajātaka conceived of collecting good karma for finding a happiness in the next life. Moreover, Paññāsajātaka believed in the supernatural for things engendered proper things to themselves and it can eliminate, expel and prevent them from disturbing or harming.

       3. The influence of Paññāsajātaka in Thai society indicated that Buddhism plays an important role in addition to Buddha teaching, religious places and religious object. The evidence of the relationship between Buddhism and Thai society conveyed to literature, as is evident from the propagation of Buddhist principles on piety the pragmatics of Buddhism doctrine of Buddhists by presenting in a narrative form or Jataka in order to engender an understanding and be able to use in life, specially, creating merit, various rituals such as creating the Tripitaka, creating Buddha images, repairing decayed lodging, sprinkle water onto a Buddha Statue, and Kathin traditions by beliefs that good deeds will make a better life both in the present and next life by having completely happy with various factors.
