บทคัดย่อภาษาไทย

วิทยานิพนธ์เรื่องนี้ มีวัตถุประสงค์ คือ 1) เพื่อศึกษาปฐมเทศนาในพระพุทธศาสนาเถรวาท 2) เพื่อศึกษาเทศนาบนภูเขาในคริสต์ศาสนา และ 3) เพื่อเปรียบเทียบปฐมเทศนาในพระพุทธศาสนาเถรวาทกับเทศนาบนภูเขาในคริสต์ศาสนา การวิจัยครั้งนี้เป็นการวิจัยเอกสารโดยเก็บข้อมูลจากเอกสารและงานวิจัยที่เกี่ยวข้อง

ผลการวิจัยพบว่า

พระพุทธองค์ทรงแสดงธัมมจักปวัตตนสูตรหรือที่รู้กันว่า “ปฐมเทศนา”เป็นเทศนากัณฑ์แรก เพื่อโปรดปัญจวัคคีย์ ณ ที่ป่าอิสิปตนมฤคทายวัน แขวงกรุงพาราณสี สาระสำคัญของปฐมเทศนากล่าวถึงพระพุทธองค์ทรงตำหนิทางสุดโต่งสองสายคือกามสุขัลลิกานุโยค และอัตตกิลมถานุโยค ซึ่งเป็นที่นิยมปฏิบัติกันในเวลานั้น แล้วพระองค์ทรงประกาศแนวทางใหม่ ซึ่งเป็นทางสายกลาง ที่เรียกว่า ‘มัชฌมาปฏิปทา’ อันประกอบไปด้วย อริยสัจ 4 และอริมรรคมีองค์ 8 ซึ่งโดยสรุปแล้วก็คือการดำเนินไปตามหลัก ไตรสิกขา คือ ศีล สมาธิ และปัญญา ด้วยวิธีการปฏิบัติเช่นนี้พุทธศาสนิกชนก็จะบรรลุเป้าหมายสูงสุดคือพระนิพพานได้ด้วยตนเอง

คำเทศนาบนภูเขา คือ บันทึกการเทศนาของพระเยซู เป็นคำอธิบายของพระเยซูคริสต์ ใจความสำคัญของเทศนาที่เรียกว่า “บทเทศน์บนภูเขา : ความสุขแท้จริง” คริสตชนยังต้องประพฤติปฏิบัติตน เพื่อการบรรลุเป้าหมายสูงสุด ยังต้องอยู่ในกรอบของพระคริสตธรรมคัมภีร์ และหลักธรรมของพระศาสนจักร เพื่อเป็นที่โปรดปรานของพระเจ้า ให้พระเจ้ายอมรับและให้สิทธิ์ผู้นั้นได้มีชีวิตนิรันดร์ และได้อยู่ร่วมกับพระเจ้าในพระอาณาจักรสวรรค์ การกระทำเช่นนี้ย่อมทำให้ทุกคนในสังคมอยู่ร่วมกันอย่างสันติสุข

วิเคราะห์การเปรียบเทียบของปฐมเทศนาในพระพุทธศาสนาเถรวาท กับเทศนาบนภูเขาในคริสต์ศาสนา พบว่า การเทศนามีความเหมือนและแตกต่างกันทั้งสองศาสนาบางประการ คือ แนวคิดของพระพุทธศาสนาเถรวาทต้องปฏิบัติเป้าหมายสูงสุดด้วยตนเอง และเพื่อตนเองคริสตชนต้องปฏิบัติ ด้วยตนเองเพื่อการมีชีวิตนิรันดร์ และเพื่อให้เป็นที่พอพระทัยของพระเจ้า ทั้งสองศาสนามีลักษณะ เหมือนกันบางประการ ดังต่อไปนี้

  (1) ปฐมเทศนาเป็นวันที่พระพุทธเจ้าเริ่มประกาศพระศาสนา ส่วนคำเทศนาบนภูเขา คือ บันทึกการเทศนาของพระเยซู “เทศนาบนภูเขา” เป็นหลักธรรมสำคัญของศาสนาคริสต์

 (2) เป้าหมายสูงสุดของทั้งสองศาสนามีเพียงหนทางเดียวที่ศาสนิกชนของทั้งสองศาสนา สามารถปฏิบัติตนเพื่อเข้าถึงเป้าหมายสูงสุด คือ พุทธศาสนิกชนเถรวาท ปฏิบัติหลักไตรสิกขา ขณะที่คริสตชนต้องปฏิบัติตามพระประสงค์ของพระเจ้า คริสตชนต้องมีความรักความเชื่ออย่างสุดจิตสุดใจ และกระทำทุกอย่างเพื่อพระเจ้าเท่านั้น

บทคัดย่อภาษาอังกฤษ

The thesis has three objectives: 1) to study the first sermon in Theravada Buddhism, 2) to study the sermon on the mount in Christianity, 3) to comparatively study of the first sermon in Theravada Buddhism and the sermon on the mount in Christianity. This study is of documentary research by collecting data from documents and research paper related to this study.

The results of study were as follows:

Buddha had preached Dhammcakkapapauattanasutta Sutta or known as ‘the first sermon,’ it is the first sermon that the Buddha preached to his first five followers at the forest of Isipatanamaligadãya vana, near Varanasi. The core of the first sermon mentioned the Buddha blamed the extreme ways that was popularly practicsed at that time, namely, Self-Indulgence (Kãmasukhallikãnuyoga) and Self-Mortification (attakilamathãnuyoga), and then announced the new way that is the middle way called ‘majjhimãpatipadã’ comprises four Noble Truths, and Noble Eightfold Paths, in conclusion, it is the way of practice based on three training (Ti-sikkhã), i.e. morality, meditation and wisdom. By following this way, Buddhist people would attain the ultimate goal, that is to say, nibbãna, by themselves.

The sermon on the mountain is the record of the Jesus Christ’s sermon; it is the explanation of Jesus Christ. The main core of this sermon is called “The Sermon On The Mount” The Christians have to control themselves for the attainment of the ultimate goal, and have to live in the regimentation of Bible and the doctrine LDS Church in order to be the lover of God, ask for God accept and bestows the right to have eternal life, and live with God in the kingdom of heaven. This kind of doing would make all men live together in society peacefully.

From the analytical comparison of the first sermon in Theravada Buddhism and the sermon on the mount in Christianity, it was found that Both of them have both similarity and difference; the different point was that, in Theravada Buddhism, the followers have to prectise for the attainment of the ultimate goal for themselves, whereas the Christians have to practise for having eternal life, and for being the lover and satisfier of God. Both Theravada Buddhism and Christianity have some similar points as follows:

1. The first sermon is on the day that the Buddha started his propagation of his religion, whereas the Sermon on the Mount is record of the sermon of Jesus Christ called “Sermon on the mount” that is the important doctrine of Christianity

2. The ultimate Goal of both religions has only one way for the devotees of both religions can practise for the attainment, that is to say, Theravada Buddhist people follow three training (Ti sikkhã), where Christians have to follow the will of God, and they have to have love, and  firming faith, and do all things for God only.
