วิทยานิพนธ์เรื่องการศึกษาเปรียบเทียบบทบาทด้านการเผยแผ่ศาสนาของแม่ชีในพระพุทธศาสนาเถรวาทกับนักบวชหญิงในศาสนาคริสต์โรมันคาทอลิก ในครั้งนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์ 3 ประการ คือ (1) เพื่อศึกษาบทบาทด้านการเผยแผ่ศาสนาของแม่ชีในพระพุทธศาสนาเถรวาท (2) เพื่อศึกษาบทบาทด้านการเผยแผ่ศาสนาของนักบวชหญิงในศาสนาคริสต์โรมันคาทอลิก และ (3) เพื่อเปรียบเทียบบท บาทด้านการเผยแผ่ศาสนาของแม่ชีในพระพุทธศาสนาเถรวาท กับนักบวชหญิงในศาสนาคริสต์โรมัน คาทอลิก โดยศึกษาจากเอกสารและสัมภาษณ์

ผลการวิจัยพบว่า บทบาทการเผยแผ่ศาสนาของแม่ชีในพระพุทธศาสนาเถรวาท ประกอบไปด้วยด้านปริยัติและปฏิบัติ ในด้านปริยัติช่วยส่งเสริมการศึกษาทั้งแผนกธรรม แผนกบาลีและอภิธรรม ส่งเสริมการศึกษาทั้งทางโลกและทางธรรม ในด้านปฏิบัติ มุ่งเน้นปฏิบัติวิปัสสนากรรมฐาน ดำรงตนอยู่ในไตรสิกขา จัดอบรมเยาวชน บุคคลทั่วไปให้ตั้งมั่นในพระรัตนตรัย ส่วนบทบาทด้านการนักบวชหญิงในศาสนาคริสต์โรมันคาทอลิก จะช่วยส่งเสริมการศึกษาโดยเปิดโรงเรียนคอนแวนต์ต่าง ๆ รวมทั้งเป็นครูสอนในโรงเรียนคอนแวนต์ด้วย ด้านการปฏิบัตินักบวชหญิงฯ ยึดมั่นในหลักความเชื่อ 6 ประการ มีการประกอบพิธีกรรม หรือพิธีศีลศักดิ์สิทธิ์ 7 ประการ และดำเนินชีวิตตามพระบัญญัติ 10 ประการ

การศึกษาเปรียบเทียบบทบาทด้านการเผยแผ่ศาสนาทางด้านปริยัติและปฏิบัติ ของแม่ชีในพระพุทธศาสนาเถรวาท กับนักบวชหญิงในศาสนาคริสต์โรมันคาทอลิก มีความเหมือนกันในด้านด้านปริยัติในฐานะเป็นผู้ส่งเสริมการศึกษาในหลาย ๆ รูปแต่มีความต่างกันในด้านปฏิบัติ กล่าวคือ แม่ชีใน พระพุทธศาสนาเถรวาทมุ่งเน้นการปฏิบัติกรรมฐานทั้งสมถะและวิปัสสนากรรมฐาน นอกจากนี้ยังจัดกิจกรรมอบรมเยาวชนและบุคคลทั่วไป ในขณะที่นักบวชหญิงในศาสนาคริสต์นิกายโรมันคาทอลิกจะเน้นไปที่การมีในศรัทธาและประการกอบพิธีกรรมตามแนวทางของศาสนาคริสต์นิกายโรมันคาทอลิกนั่นเอง

บทคัดย่อภาษาอังกฤษ

The thesis entitled “A Comparative Study of the Religious Propagating Roles of Nun in Theravada Buddhism and Sister in Roman Catholic Christianity” has three objectives: 1) to study the religious propagating roles of nun in Theravada Buddhism, 2 to study the religious propagating roles of sister in Roman Catholic Christianity, and 3) to comparatively study of the religious propagating roles of nun in Theravada Buddhism and sister in Roman Catholic Christianity. The information of this study had been collected from documents and interview. 

          The results of this study were found that nuns in Theravada Buddhism have roles on both theory and practice:  on the theoretical roles, nuns have the roles on supporting of studies in Dhamma, pali, and Abhidhama, besides, they support of both worldly and religious studies as well, and on the practical role, they practise both tranquil and insight meditations, making themselves firmly in three training (tri-sikkha), and also organizing of training programs for youth and people for leading them to firmly adhere in the triple gems. The theoretical role of sisters in Roman Catholic Christianity are on supporting of education by opening various convent schools, including the role of being teachers in convent school; on the practical role, sisters adheres in 6 beliefs, performing ceremony or seven sacraments, and living their life in accordance with ten commandments.

From the comparison of the religious propagating roles of nun in Theravada Buddhism and sister in Roman Catholic Christianity, it was found that both of them have similarity on the theoretical point, i.e. the role of supporting educations in various ways, but they have difference on practical point:  nuns in Theravada Buddhism emphasize on practising meditation both tranquil and insight meditation, besides, they have role on the  organizing training program for youth and people, whereas sisters in Roman Catholic Christianity emphasize on having faith and performing ceremony  in accordance with the way of Roman Catholic.
