บทคัดย่อภาษาไทย

                    งานวิจัยนี้ มีวัตถุประสงค์ 3 ประการ คือ 1) เพื่อศึกษาความเป็นมาของพระพุทธรูปและพิธีกรรมการบูชาในพระพุทธศาสนาเถรวาท 2)  เพื่อศึกษาความเชื่อและพิธีกรรมเกี่ยวกับหลวงพ่อองค์ตื้อ นครหลวงเวียงจันทน์ และ 3) เพื่อศึกษาคุณค่าของความเชื่อและพิธีกรรมเกี่ยวกับหลวงพ่อองค์ตื้อ นครหลวงเวียงจันทน์ การวิจัยนี้ เป็นการวิจัยเชิงคุณภาพ (Qualitative Research) โดยศึกษาข้อมูลจากเอกสาร โดยเก็บข้อมูลจากเอกสาร และการสัมภาษณ์เชิงลึก วิเคราะห์ข้อมูลด้วยวิธีการพรรณนาตามหลักอุปนัย

                   ผลการวิจัยพบว่า ความเป็นมาของพระพุทธรูปมีการพัฒนาอย่างต่อเนื่องและเปลี่ยนแปลงไปตามสภาพของสิ่งแวดล้อม ในแต่ละยุคสมัยนานแล้ว เป็นไปตามหลักฐานทางประวัติศาสตร์และโบราณคดีที่เกิดจากเหตุผลทางประวัติศาสตร์ศิลปะ ส่วนพิธีกรรมมีความสำคัญในทางศาสนา การประกอบพิธีกรรมเป็นอีกวิธีหนึ่งที่จูงจิตใจชุมชนได้ ซึ่งดูแล้วน่าเลื่อมใส พอทำปฏิบัติๆ ทำให้เกิดความศักดิ์สิทธิ์ทางใจขึ้น นำไปสู่การสร้างสิ่งเคารพบูชา จากนั้นจึงกลายเป็นสิ่งศักดิ์สิทธิ์ขึ้นมา            

                    ความเชื่อและพิธีกรรมเกี่ยวกับหลวงพ่อองค์ตื้อ นครหลวงเวียงจันทน์ พบว่า พุทธศาสนิกชนที่ไปไหว้สักการบูชาหลวงพ่อองค์ตื้อ มีความศักดิ์สิทธิ์ เทวดาอารักษ์ที่สามารถคุ้มครองให้ตนและครองมีความสุข หรือประสบผลสำเร็จได้ หากบนบานหรือสักการะถูกวิธี จะสำเร็จไม่ช้าก็เร็ว พิธีกรรมของพุทธศาสนิกชนที่มีต่อหลวงพ่อองค์ตื้อ

                    คุณค่าพิธีกรรมการบูชาหลวงพ่อองค์ตื้อ นครหลวงเวียงจันทน์ พบว่า มีความสำคัญในการสร้างเสริมกำลังใจให้ผู้มีศรัทธา ผลจากการปฏิบัติตามความเชื่อและพิธีกรรม สามารถแยกได้เป็น 2 ประเด็นดังที่กล่าวมาแล้ว คือ ในระดับปัจเจกชน และ ในระดับชุมชน ซึ่งทั้งสองประเด็นดังกล่าว เป็นการนำเอาหลักธรรมทางพระพุทธศาสนา ไปประยุกต์ใช้ในพิธีกรรมการบูชาหลวงพ่อองค์ตื้อ ได้เป็นอย่างดี นี้ก็ถือได้ว่าพุทธศาสนิกชน ยังให้ความสำคัญของพิธีกรรมต่าง ๆ โดยยึดเอาหลักการแนวคิดของบรรพบุรุษมาใช้ในปัจจุบันได้เป็นอย่างดี ถึงแม้ว่ากาลเวลาจะเปลี่ยนแปลงไป แต่พิธีกรรมการบูชาหลวงพ่อองค์ตื้อ ยังคงรักษาเอกลักษณ์วัฒนธรรม พิธีกรรม และประเพณีของตนเองได้เป็นอย่างดี

บทคัดย่อภาษาอังกฤษ

                   The purposes of this research were: 1) to study the background of the Buddha’s images and the ritual worship in Theravada Buddhism, 2) to study the belief and rituals related to Loungpo Ong-tue in Viantian Capital and 3) to study the worth of belief and rituals related to Loungpo Ong-tue towards Lao people in Viantian Capital. This research was the qualitative research by studying the data from the documents and field study in order to collect the data from interviewing.

                  The results of the research were found that the background of the Buddha’s images and the worshiping rituals in Theravada Buddhism and the arts related to the Buddhist image works can be seen that the construction of the respective materials has been continuously developed and changed in accordance with the environment for each period. While the constructive history of the Buddha’s images has been inherited from the past to the present in compliance with the historical evidence  and the archeology . Wat Ong-tue is one of the temples is the oldest one in Viantian Capital and it has the important meaning of the archeology and the history and it is the temple for which Lao people and foreigners respect. It is the special importance as seen the words “ Whoever coming to visit Viantian and not coming to respect Loungpo Ong-tue is not considered to arrive in Viantian”

                  The belief and rituals related to Loungpo Ong-tue towards Lao people in Viantian Capital were found that the Buddhists who go to worship Loungpo Ong-tue come from every direction and the foreigners coming with their husbands or wives believe in Buddhism mixed together with the belief in the miracle, sacredness and divines that can protect themselves and their families to be happiness or successfulness. If to make a vow or to worship in the right way with various offerings is believed that the thing that has been done may succeed not slowly or quickly. But this is because the other factors support, that is, one has never done the heavy Kamma that destroy the result of making a vow.
