บทคัดย่อภาษาไทย

การวิจัยเรื่อง “การศึกษาเปรียบเทียบการแสดงตนเป็นศาสนิกชนของพระพุทธศาสนาเถร    วาท และศาสนาคริสต์นิกายโรมันคาทอลิกในสังคมไทย” โดยมีวัตถุประสงค์ 1) เพื่อศึกษาการแสดงตนเป็นศาสนิกชนของพระพุทธศาสนาเถรวาท 2) เพื่อศึกษาการแสดงตนเป็นศาสนิกชนของศาสนาคริสต์นิกายโรมันคาทอลิก และ 3) เพื่อเปรียบเทียบการแสดงตนเป็นศาสนิกชนของพระพุทธศาสนาเถรวาทและศาสนาคริสต์นิกายโรมันคาทอลิกในสังคมไทย งานวิจัยนี้เป็นการศึกษาเชิงคุณภาพ (Qualitative Research) โดยรวบรวมข้อมูลทั้งจากเอกสารและงานวิจัยที่เกี่ยวข้อง  และจากการสัมภาษณ์เชิงลึก (In-depth Interview)

ผลการศึกษาพบว่า

การแสดงตนเป็นพุทธมามกะ คือ การประกาศตนเพื่อแสดงให้รู้ว่าเป็นผู้นับถือพระพุทธศาสนา คือ พระพุทธ พระธรรม และพระสงฆ์ เป็นสิ่งสูงสุดและเป็นที่พึ่งที่ระลึกของตน พิธีพุทธมามกะเกิดขึ้นหลังจากที่พระพุทธเจ้าได้ทรงประกาศคำสอนของพระองค์แก่ประชาชน และมีผู้ที่ได้รับฟังคำสอนแล้วเกิดศรัทธาเลื่อมใสปฏิบัติตามคำสอนนั้น จนได้รับผลจากการปฏิบัติตามสมควรแล้วจึงยอมรับว่าพระพุทธศาสนาซึ่งประกอบด้วยพระพุทธ พระธรรม และพระสงฆ์ เป็นสิ่งที่มีคุณค่ายิ่งต่อชีวิตตน

ส่วนคริสต์ศาสนิกชนโรมันคาทอลิกเชื่อว่าศีลศักดิ์สิทธิ์เป็นเครื่องหมายและเครื่องมือนำความรอด เพื่อให้เราได้รับความปลอดภัย อาศัยเครื่องหมายและสัญลักษณ์ภายนอกแบบมนุษย์ เพื่อเป็นสื่อนำความหมายสร้างความสัมพันธ์กับพระเจ้า โดยทางความเชื่อภายใน เป็นความสัมพันธ์ที่มีต่อกันระหว่างพระเจ้ากับมนุษย์ เพื่อช่วยให้ได้มีส่วนในความศักดิ์สิทธิ์ และสัมผัสกับความรักของพระเจ้า

ดังนั้น การเป็นศาสนิกชนของพระพุทธศาสนาเถรวาท และศาสนาคริสต์นิกายโรมันคาทอลิกในสังคมไทยนั้น มีความสอดคล้องกันในด้านคุณค่าและประโยชน์ทางด้านจิตใจมีที่ยึดเหนี่ยวทางใจ ส่วนนัยที่ต่างกันจะเป็นด้านสถานที่ ขั้นตอนหรือพิธีการในการประกอบพิธีกรรมเท่านั้น

บทคัดย่อภาษาอังกฤษ

                The thesis entitled “A Comparative Study of the Declaration of Becoming a Religious Follower in Theravada Buddhism and Roman Catholic Christianity in Thai Society” has three objectives: 1) to study of the declaration of becoming a Buddhist in Theravada Buddhism, 2) to study of the declaration of becoming a Christian in Roman Catholic Christianity, and 3) to comparatively study of the declaration of becoming a religious follower of Theravada Buddhism and Roman Catholic Christianity in Thai Society. This study is a qualitative research by collecting data both documents and the related research, and from the In-depth interview.

               The results of the study found that:-

               The declaration himself to be Buddhist devotees (Buddhamāmaka) is an announcement himself to know that he respects Buddhism; the Buddha, the Dhamma, and the Sangha which are as his foremost refuge. The Buddhamāmaka ceremony has occurred after Buddha preached His Teachings to people and those who listened to teachings and to have faith in those teachings until having gotten the result from his practice appropriately, and accepted that Buddhism is consist of the Buddha, the Dhamma, and the Sangha are the foremost values in his life.

               While, Christians in Roman Catholic Christianity believe that the Sacraments are the symbols and the tools of salvation for safe of us. It is the mark and the external symbol as human to be messenger to create the relationship with the God. By the internal belief is the relationship between the God and human beings for helping them to be participated of the holiness and to experience the love of God.

               Therefore, the declaration himself to be religious follower in Theravada Buddhism and Roman Catholic Christianity in Thai society is consistent in the mental values and benefits that to be spiritual anchor. The different significance is the places, the procedure or the ritual of performance only.
