บทคัดย่อภาษาไทย

วิทยานิพนธ์ฉบับนี้ มีวัตถุประสงค์ 3 ประการ  1) เพื่อศึกษาโครงสร้างและเนื้อหาของวาเสฏฐสูตร  2) เพื่อศึกษาหลักธรรมที่ปรากฎในวาเสฏฐสูตร 3)เพื่อประยุกต์คำสอนจากวาเสฏฐสูตรใช้ในสังคมไทย เป็นการวิจัยนี้เป็นการวิจัยเชิงคุณภาพโดยการรวบรวมข้อมูลจากคัมภีร์สำคัญของพระพุทธศาสนาเถรวาทคือ พระไตรปิฎก อรรถกถา และเอกสารงานวิจัยที่เกี่ยวข้อง แล้วนำมาวิเคราะห์เรียบเรียง บรรยายเชิงพรรณนา จากนั้นนำไปให้ผู้เชี่ยวชาญทำการตรวจสอบความถูกต้อง

ผลของการวิจัยพบว่า เนื้อความในวาเสฏวาฐสูตรกล่าวถึงเรื่อง ความเป็นพราหมณ์ กรรมและการเกิดใหม่พระผู้มีพระภาคเจ้าทรงอธิบายกำเนิดของพราหมณ์ที่ทำให้พวกพราหมณ์มีความเห็นผิดเพราะเชื่อว่าตนมีวรรณะที่ประเสริฐกว่าวรรณะอื่น พระผู้มีพระภาคเจ้าตรัสย้อนกำเนิดพราหมณ์ทรงชี้ว่ากำเนิดของพวกพราหมณ์ไม่แตกต่างจากกำเนิดของวรรณะอื่น

พระสูตรดังกล่าวได้กล่าวถึงหลัก ศีล กรรม ขันติ อันเป็นหลักธรรมที่พระพุทธเจ้าตรัสเกี่ยวเนื่องสัมพันธ์กัน ศีล ผู้รักษาศีลให้ดีในเบื้องต้นเสียอย่างหนึ่งแล้วคุณธรรมความดีในเบื้องสูงจะเกิดขึ้นสืบเนื่องติดตามมาเอง ศีลมีประโยชน์และอานิสงส์สืบเนื่องโดยลำดับขั้นตอน ยังประโยชน์ไม่เดือดร้อน มีความชื่นบาน มีความอิ่มเอิบใจ เกิดความสงบ มีความสุข มีความตั้งใจมั่น มีความรู้ความเห็นตามความเป็นจริง เกิดความเบื่อหน่ายคายกำหนัด มีความหลุดพ้น บรรลุอริยมรรคนำไปสู่มรรค ผล นิพพาน กรรม กรรมเป็นการกระทำของบุคคลคนนั้น แต่กรรมจะหนักหนาสักเพียงใดก็ขึ้นอยู่กับเจตนาที่ตนเองได้ตั้งใจไว้ กรรมนำให้เป็นเกิดใหม่อย่างแน่นอนในภพภูมิต่าง ๆ ใน 31 ภพภูมิ กรรมดีก็จะนำไปสู่สุคติภูมิ ได้แก่ มนุษย์ เทวดา พรหม พระอรหันต์ เป็นต้น

การประยุกต์คำสอนจากวาเสฏฐสูตรใช้ในสังคมไทยเป็นการนำหลักธรรมคำสอนใน
วาเสฏฐสูตร เพื่อนำมาประยุกต์ใช้ในด้านการปฏิรูปคำสอน ด้านการสร้างกำลังใจ ด้านการศึกษา และด้านการละอัตตาตัวตน

บทคัดย่อภาษาอังกฤษ

                 The opjectiver of this thesis are: 1) to study the structure and content of Vasettha Sutta, 2) to study the teachings appeared in Vasettha Sutta and 3) to apply research. The data has been collected from the important scriptures of Buddhism namely, Tipitaka Atthakatha (The commentarie), and the relevant pervious to verify it.

          The research findings showed that the content in the Vasettha Sutta mentioned about being a Brahmin, Kaṃma (action) and rebirth. The blessed one explained that a birth of Brahmin which made the Brahmins have false beliefs that they are more noble caster than others

          The Aforesaid discourse mentions about Sĩla (precepts), Kaṃma (action), Khanti (patience) which is the teachings that the Buddha said they inter are related. Sĩla, one who observes precepts well at the beginning, the morals and high virtues will also occur later. Sĩla has benefits and advantage step by step by step which benefits others with no trouble, having joyfulness, peacefulness, happiness, concentration, knowledge and view based on reality. Becoming bored, giving (Mogga) sexual desire desire, having liberation, enlightening the noble path leading to path fruit, (Pard) Nibbana. Kaṃma is the action of each individual but how serious it will be depends oneisoenintention. Kaṃma leads one to be born absolutely in 31 different realms. Good Kaṃma will lead to happy realms such as human, deity, Brahma etc.

          Application of teachings from Vasettha Sutta in Thai society is the teaching from Vasettha Sutta to be applied in teaching reformation, in the dimension of creating motivation, education and abandoning from ego
